Ground segment

Ground segment consolidates the assets being used on Earth to operate, send and collect information streams from satellite systems.

With more than 5 million user terminals already deployed in 2020 we anticipate a twofold increase by 2030 supported by around 15,000 ground stations to manage data traffic and video content distribution worldwide. The industry is innovating at an accelerated pace, contributing to the improvement of the efficiency of end-to-end satellite solutions for the benefit of government and private users. The use of new frequency bands, the deployment of new systems in different orbits, the impact of virtualization, and the diversification of user needs are among the drivers that will support growth, but also imply a continuous adaptation of the ecosystem. This reshaping of the industry involves the emergence of new companies and concepts, such as Ground Segment as a Service, and an increasing number of strategic partnership and M&As led by industry leaders.
